Why it costs what it costs

Solid wood, and nothing hidden.

Most "wood" tops are a veneer over plywood. Ours are solid hardwood through and through — the reason they can be sanded, re-oiled, and handed down instead of replaced.

Material

Solid hardwood only

Appalachian black walnut, white oak, hard maple, and mountain cherry. Never plywood, never veneer.

Tolerance

Cut to the 1/16″

Glued up oversize, then flattened, planed, and cut to your exact dimensions — the number you order is the number you get.

Machining

CNC in-house

Sink, range, and custom cutouts machined before finishing on our own equipment, so every cut edge is sealed.

Finish

Hand-finished

Tung oil, hardwax oil, or conversion varnish — sanded to 220 grit and finished by hand, cured before it ships.

Watch your order get built.

Most custom shops go quiet after checkout. We built the opposite: the moment you order, you get a private tracker link — live status, every stage dated, an estimated finish date. No account, no emails to chase. We haven't found another wood shop that offers anything close.

Start to finish

What happens after you order.

Lumber is ordered and production scheduled per piece. Nothing sits on a shelf waiting for you — and you can follow all of it on your tracker.

01

Drawing & tracker

We send a shop drawing for approval and open your private tracker — cutouts, seams, and overhangs, before a board is cut.

02

Lumber

Boards hand-selected for your piece specifically, colour and figure matched across the glue-up.

03

Build

Cut, glued, flattened, CNC-machined, edged, sanded to 220 grit, and finished by hand.

04

Crate & ship

Padded, then a plywood crate built around your piece. Loaded and shipped, curbside.

Stunning! A large piece of butcher block for my island — 35″ × 74″, 2″ thick, black walnut, hardwax oil. Put together with the thought and skill of a true artist. Exactly what I wanted.

Six floating shelves, 12″ deep × 48″, fully finished black walnut. Incredibly solid, true, and well finished, with the best bracketry you can buy. The finish is equal to the finest furniture.

Every review — even the 1-star

Questions we get every week

Good to know.

Is everything really made to order?
Yes — nothing is a stock size. You set the species, dimensions, thickness, and finish in the builder and the price updates as you go. Lumber is bought and production scheduled per piece.
How is it priced?
By the piece, right on the page. Countertops price by the square foot adjusted for species, thickness, and finish; shelves by size with the bracket and free lower-48 shipping built in. No quote request, no waiting on an email.
Can I cut directly on a countertop?
It depends on the finish. Choose an oil finish — tung oil on walnut, food-safe mineral oil on the lighter woods — if you want to cut on the top; it's all natural, food safe, and any scratch touches up. We don't recommend cutting on conversion varnish or hardwax oil.
How does it ship?
Countertops ship crated by freight, curbside — padded, then a plywood crate built to that piece's exact dimensions. Shelves ship free in the lower 48. You'll track all of it on your order link.
