An afternoon, three steps.

Lag it to the studs
Find your studs, level the plate and drive the lag screws. The slotted holes let you slide it to the exact spot before you tighten down.

Drill and recess the shelf
Bore the rod holes into the back of the shelf, then rout a shallow slot so the plate sits flush. The guide kits keep every cut straight and on spacing.

Slide it on
Push the shelf over the rods until it sits tight to the wall. Nothing shows: no corbels, no visible hardware.
Look closely. You won't find them.

Heavier than they expected. In the good way.

How much weight will a bracket hold?
Heavy Duty brackets are rated 75 lb per stud they're lagged into, on 16″ stud centers. A 12″ bracket hits one stud (75 lb), an 18″, 24″ or 32″ hits two (150 lb), and a 43″ hits three (225 lb). Slim-Line brackets are rated 55 lb per stud. Super Duty brackets are rated 200 lb each, and the Super Duty desk bracket 250 lb.
Which bracket fits a thin shelf?
Slim-Line brackets fit shelves 1½″ thick and up, and Heavy Duty fits 1¾″ and up. For a shelf 1″ to 1 7/16″ thick there isn't room to hide a backplate, so use the Super Duty bracket, which mounts inside the wall. Super Duty works on any shelf 1″ or thicker.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Every Walnut Wood Works bracket carries a lifetime warranty.
Can I mount into drywall without studs?
Yes, with drywall anchors, but your capacity then becomes whatever the anchors are rated for. Studs are always the stronger choice, so line the bracket up with your studs first and plan the shelf position from there.
What about tile, brick or stone walls?
They work, but every masonry wall is different. Our installation instructions cover tile and stone walls.
The mounting holes don't land on my studs. Now what?
Use the slotted holes to shift the bracket side to side, or drill an extra hole through the plate with a 3/16″ bit wherever you need it.
My shelf is longer than 43″.
Up to 60″, one 43″ bracket does the job. Over 60″, use two brackets: even a 10-foot shelf only needs two 43″ brackets, and the bracket finder on this page picks the pair for you. For a one-piece custom length, use the custom bracket builder.
How does shipping and returns work?
Shipping is free to the lower 48. Brackets and tools can be returned within 30 days; the buyer pays return shipping.
Hang it once. Never think about it again.
Every bracket is laser-cut and robot-welded in our Tennessee shop, backed by a lifetime warranty, and shipped free.
